Irene began her dance training in ballet, tap and jazz at age 5 at the In Motion Dance Center in San Diego, CA. Towards the end of her high school career, she began studying modern dance at Eveoke Dance Theatre. Irene continued her dance training at the University of California, Berkeley, focusing on modern dance technique. While pursuing a bachelor's degree in nutritional science and a minor in dance and performance studies, she had the honor and privilege of performing in works by several Bay Area choreographers including Katie Faulkner of Little Seismic Dance Company, Joe Goode of Joe Goode Performance Group and Lisa Wymore of Smith/Wymore Disappearing Acts. She received the Mask and Dagger Memorial Prize for Contributions to Theater, Dance and Performing Studies and was awarded a scholarship to Shawl-Anderson Dance Center in Berkeley, CA. Along with performing, Irene has taught pre-ballet and tap-jazz-tumbling combo classes at the In Motion Dance Center and has instructed pre-ballet and creative movement dance classes at the Berkeley-Albany YMCA. She is currently pursuing a master's in occupational therapy at Midwestern University and is constantly seeking health and movement related opportunities that enrich the lives of youth and their families.
